Members: Take a part in making history
Have you ever fancied taking your own part in history?

The Beaufort Companye is made up of volunteers, who give up their time freely to educate and entertain the public about the Wars of the Roses at historical sites all over the country.

The group has around 70 members of all ages who attend events throughout the season, coming to as many or few as they are able.

The group is currently interested in recruiting people who wish to take on a role in a medieval companye and play an active part in putting on quality shows.

What would be expected of you?

Members are expected to attend at least one event a year, all of which take place on weekends or bank holidays. The sites always allow for camping, which is how we stay overnight. You would be expected to be able to travel to the event yourself along with your provisions.

Throughout the day the group perform a range of activities and displays, some of which you would be expected to take an active part in dependant upon your personal interests. Throughout the rest of the day members are free to portray their charactor and undertake activities themselves which support the event and interest the audience.

Under 18s are only allowed to join with a parent or legal guardian.

What role could I do?

All members are expected to take on some kind of role at events, where they can portray the type of activities that took place during a Lord's Household. Each event is different, some have a military focus like a battle and some are domestic where we might inhabit a castle for the weekend.

The group is currently looking to increase the number of Archers within the Companye.

What would I need?

Members are expected to provide all their own equipment, including all authentic costume and props. Authenticity is very important and the group can recommend suppliers for most things, or you can have a go at making your own.

This can obviously act as a barrier to starting re-enactment, and the group is able to lend some items initially to help new members get themselves established.
